Networking Groups

Here is a sampling of professional networking groups in Greater Cleveland/Akron. There are many more groups that are industry specific and can easily be found and joined.

Cleveland Leadership Center

 

Provides leadership and community engagement opportunities across a wide spectrum of life and career stages to inspire, connect, and challenge individuals to make a positive community impact. 20/30 Club

 

The Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club is the largest and longest-running young professional association in the region with over 3,000 members aged 21-45. This inclusive and diverse club helps its members grow both civically and professionally through 100+ social, networking, philanthropic, and educational events each year. Visit

Engage! Cleveland

 

A community engagement organization for YPs, emerging talent, and business/community leaders who are passionate about making Cleveland a top destination for the next generation. They will connect you with opportunities for professional development, networking, civic events, and social activities. Visit

Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club.

Women in Networking

 

Created in 1997 to provide a safe environment for female business professionals to come together and share ideas in order to grow their businesses. WIN Cleveland has grown into a community of female entrepreneurs and business professionals, offering monthly networking and educational events. Visit

YP Akron

 

Young professional can easily connect through offerings which focus on social and community impact events, a chance to invest in the community through volunteerism and support of local businesses, and opportunities to grow through introductions to new and existing resources in the Greater Akron community. Volunteer Opportunities

Business Volunteers Unlimited

 

A Northeast Ohio organization that engages, connects, and strengthens businesses, nonprofits, and the community. Services and events provide a 'one-stop shop' for business community engagement and nonprofit capacity-building. Many companies that hire EA are members. Visit

Junior League of Cleveland

 

An organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. The JLC empowers women by helping them develop civic leadership skills and giving them the tools to put their unique talents to work in our community. Visit

Greater Cleveland Volunteers

 

Recruits volunteers age 18+ to serve at numerous nonprofit organizations in Cuyahoga County. They assist people in finding the right opportunity to serve based on their interests, skills, and availability. Volunteers help at one-time, short-term, or ongoing assignments at local nonprofit organizations. Visit

Junior League of Akron

 

The JLA plays an integral part in the development, improvement, and support of the communities of Summit County. Like the Cleveland Chapter, the Akron Chapter also empowers women to become civic leaders and understands that local efforts can have a profound reach. Their current primary focus is food insecurity. Volunteer Match

 

The award-winning nonprofit service has complemented and co-existed with commercial technologies to become the web's largest volunteer recruiting platform. It serves thousands of nonprofits, a million interested volunteers a month, and has a legacy corporate volunteering product YourMatch. Visit

Newcomer Clubs

Canton Newcomers and Neighbors

 

Started more than 30 years ago when a group of women decided to help recent arrivals. The club welcomes people in the area who are new, life-long residents, or anywhere in between. There are numerous opportunities for members to get involved in the community socially and civically. Visit

Chagrin Valley Newcomers

 

Focused on women in the Chagrin Valley area, connect with them by searching for Chagrin Falls Newbies on Facebook. It is a closed group on Facebook with over 200 members where new residents of the Chagrin Valley can connect and support one another. Join the group by Facebook request. Visit

Eastside Welcome Club

 

A co-ed social organization for people living in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland. EWC fosters a sense of community through participation in organized social events and charity fundraising. Membership is open to anyone interested in making new friends and participating in activities. Visit

Hudson Newcomers Club

 

Whether you are new to Hudson or have been living there for years, it is a great way to make new friends and discover all that area has to offer. HNC offers a wide range of social opportunities and community service projects. Membership is open to all residents of Hudson with a Hudson address. Visit

New Clevelanders

 

A social organization with membership open to any woman new to NE Ohio, east of the Cuyahoga River. They offer monthly activities including coffees, luncheons, bowling, excursions, book clubs, sewing, tennis, discussion groups and weekend night activities with significant others. Visit

New Westsiders

 

It fosters friendships and provides social activities and support to women who are new to Cleveland's West Side Suburbs. Among other things, the club offers monthly luncheons and field trips to explore the region and learn new things. Join them by connecting to New Westsiders on Facebook. Visit

Facebook

 

EA's Facebook page is a wealth of information. Following our page will keep you in the know. Also, many neighborhoods and suburbs have private community block clubs. These groups will you inform you about an array of topics ranging from shops, garbage pickup day delays, block parties, and community events. People in the area also love the ever-popular Facebook "mommy swap" groups where local moms can ask for advice and buy, sell, or borrow items for their families. Visit

Meetup

 

MeetUp.com is a great way to connect with like-minded people with shared interests and hobbies. It is like a giant community bulletin board. You will find a wide array of groups for both Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron, and the groups can be incredibly spot-on. For example, one transplant from England who loved biking and craft beers found a Meetup group that connected him to others from the UK, meeting monthly for a bike ride and pub crawl. Visit

Nextdoor

 

Nextdoor was founded in San Francisco to help people in big cities get to know their immediate neighbors through a private social network. It is where communities come together to greet newcomers, exchange recommendations, and read the latest local news. This website verifies where you live and then connects you to others in your community. It is place to give and get help, get things done, and build real connections with your neighbors.
