Deadman's Curve
Where I-90 makes an abrupt 90-degree turn through Downtown
Innerbelt
I-90 highway as it makes its way through the city from Deadman's Curve to I-77
The Shoreway
Section of I-90 that parallels Lake Erie shoreline, east of the city
Muni Lot
The city-owned lot east of First Energy Stadium known for tailgating for Browns games.
The Islands
Islands in Lake Erie with one of the largest concentrations of pleasure boats in the world. Put-in-Bay is the most well-known.
Up On The Hill
Suburbs on the east side which is elevated by the start of the foothills of the Allegheny mountain range.

Snowbirds
Small bird shaped metal pieces on slate roofs to help keep snow from damaging gutters.
Mudroom
An entry room/area near the back door of a home where families remove their shoes so as to not track mud or snow thorough the house.
Food
Hough Bakery/Cake
An extremely popular local bakery where everyone bought birthday cake until 1992. The head baker saved several recipes in his memory and revived the cake business so the tradition continues for old-timers.
Punzachi
Pronounced "poon shki". A Lenten doughnut that you will see in grocery stores. It is of Polish origin.
Polish Boy
An unofficial signature food of Cleveland. A kielbasa sausage into hot dog bun, loaded with toppings.
Stores
Malley's
Local chocolate confectioner. You may notice its large pink silos that have "Sugar" and "Chocolate" painted on them, along I-480.
Heinen's
The local family-owned grocery store. They are in their third generation of family leadership. People can say they are going to Heinen's even when going to another store.
Marc's
A local deep discount store with basics and random highly discounted items for bargain hunters
Sports
The Tribe and Chief Wahoo
Nicknames for the Cleveland Indians (soon to be Guardians) and their former mascot.
Browns' Stadium or The Stadium
Home of the Cleveland Browns. Locals don't typically use the official name, First Energy Stadium.
The Arena and Municipal Stadium
The long-gone, torn down former locations of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns.
The Q
Former name of the Cleveland Cavaliers' arena. The official name is "Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse." Also used are other former names: Quicken Loans and The Gund.
The Jake or Jacobs Field
Former names of the home of the Cleveland Indians that are still used. The official name is Progressive Field.
Districts
Warehouse District
North and west of Public Square to the Cuyahoga River. Popular living and office space.
Gateway District
Area around Progressive Field and the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Midtown/Midtown Corridor
Area from Cleveland State University to University Circle.
University Circle
Home to the arts and cultural institutions and museums in addition to a concentration of non-profits, hospitals, universities and schools
Ohio City
West side of the Cuyahoga River toW. 44th St. North and south between Lorain Ave. and Detroit Rd.
Tremont
Bordered by the Innerbelt on the West side and the Cuyahoga River on the east and North and I-490 on the South.

The Rapid
Light rail trains run by the RTA (Regional Transit Authority). Also called the "rapid transit" with three different lines: Red Line, Blue Line Green Line
Tree Lawn or Devil's Strip
The patch of grass between a sidewalk and street. Clevelanders call it the Tree Lawn. Akronites call it the Devil's Strip.
