Music - Live Music Venues



From small indoor settings to large open-air venues, there are many locations to check out live music.  Rock and Roll was coined here by DJ Alan Freed in 1951. It's also home to many musicians including: Eric Carmen and The Rasberries, The James Gang, Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders, The Black Keys, Tracy Chapman, Jim Brickman, The O'Jays, Bone, Thugs and Harmony, Joe Walsh, James Ingram, Machine Gun Kelly, Boz Skaggs, Bobby Womack, Frankie Yankovic and Henry Mancini. 

With such a rich heritage, music is alive and well here. You'll find bands ready to break into the big show, budding musicians in the local scene and the national and international tours. 

Downtown

Open-air amphitheater on the West Bank of the Flats. Enjoy live music while watching lake freighters maneuver the Cuyahoga River. Walk to nearby restaurants and bars on the West Bank or take a water taxi over to the East Bank in the summer.

On the West Bank of the flats and offers local and national talent on two stages.  A supper cub on the first floor and a concert hall and restaurant on the top floor are enhanced by beautiful river front views from multiple patios.

The Theatre was constructed in 1913 and was recently restored and renovated to give it a classic yet modern feel.  It's an iconic downtown venue.

The concept originated in Nashville and has spread to multiple locations across the country. With 2 pianos and 2 performers the fast paced, audience-inspired and driven venue is a blend of music, comedy, audience participation, requests, and dancing.

In a beautiful building in downtown Cleveland the Rock and Blues-themed national chain has a southern flair restaurant and bar, VIP lounge and a unique Sunday Gospel Brunch.

The newly renovated 20,000 seat venue is host to over 200 events per year and home to the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers and the AHL Monsters. They host world class concerts, family events like Disney on Ice and national championship tournaments.

In the heart of the Cleveland State University Campus it is home the D-I CSU basketball beam. A large range of other events such as family shows, tournament championship games, music, motor sports, equestrian events, trade shows and formal corporate celebrations take place here annually.

Cleveland's premier performing arts district was constructed in the early 1900's and is the 2nd largest performing arts center in the United States, only behind New York City. It's an architecturally renowned gem in the center of downtown and consists of over a dozen different theaters ranging in theme, scope, and size. In addition to its Broadway Series that attracts the largest annual membership in the country it hosts music events like the Tri-C Jazz Festival.

Eastside

Located in the Coventry neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. It entertains all ages 7 days a week with a wide variety of music and full bar in an eclectic setting. National touring artists have been known to quietly stop in and play new music before their concerts the next night.

A summer performing arts park in Cleveland Heights, host to art festivals, theater productions, children's programming, professional dance companies and music concerts in three different venues.

Converted from an old Croatian Liberty Hall in the "artsie" Waterloo Neighborhood. It has a ballroom and a tavern. They host up and coming bands, community events, a weekend brunch, a full kitchen, extensive beer list and even a vintage shop in the basement.

A racino and entertainment complex in Northfield. It has 200 harness horse-racing nights annually as well as live music, corporate events, gaming, multiple restaurants and retail shopping.

Westside

An intimate, acoustically pristine performance venue focused primarily on jazz music. It has food service, full bar and beautiful views of Lake Erie.

Established in 1924 as a bowling alley and family entertainment venue. Today it has food service, multiple bars, pinball and live music. It also hosts music festivals, weddings and fundraisers on its Main Stage.

A classic music venue in the Cam's Corner Neighborhood. It offers a restaurant, bar, and multiple music halls with live music nightly in a friendly neighborhood bar setting.

A vintage music and special event space in a mid-19th century movie theater. It has a large stage and high capacity theater seating which hosts a nightclub, dance club and music theater.

Located in Lakewood, it's made up of three entertainment spaces. The main stage, the exclusive patio, and the private Riverside Dining Room host live music four nights a week. It's known to be one of the premier garden and patio spaces in town.

Formerly known as Hi-Fi club, it's a traditional small concert space hosting local regional and national names with a simple bar menu.

A small venue featuring small plates, locally brewed craft beers with local, national and international music. It concentrates on Indie, folk, blues, rock and funk music and is beneath Dante Next Door. CODA's kitchen is open late night and the live mic night is also popular.

On a 20-acre farm outside Oberlin on the Vermilion River. The seasonal music series is held in a 150 year old renovated barn and surrounding grounds. It hosts the "roots" style music of blues, jazz, acoustic folk, bluegrass, swamp rock, alt country and swing. Typically, there is a food truck on the grounds and ample seating for listeners to bring a picnic and their own beverages. A suggested donation goes 100% to the artists. At intermission wander down to the rustic gallery and conference center and enjoy the Native American art displayed throughout.

The only major music school in the country that focuses on the undergraduate student. There are nine concert halls within the Conservatory hosting a wide range and year-round calendar of musical events.

Sits on the Huron River 45 minutes west of Cleveland.There is a weekly calendar of pop, rock, blues, country and jazz music and other events like July 4th celebrations and fireworks. A Farmers Market, Movie Night and Arts Festival are also popular at the Boat Basin.

A cozy tavern and performance venue featuring local and national folk, rock, and jazz artists. Their tasty brunch makes it popular with or without live music.

A retro corner bar since the late 1940's, famous for its ¼ lb. hot dogs with creative toppings, 75 beer taps, neighborhood draw, and live music of all genres.

South

On 200 rolling acres in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, 30-minutes south of Cleveland. It's the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra. It has a covered pavilion and a large lawn. There are bar and simple food options on the grounds. In addition to the Orchestra calendar Blossom hosts summer concerts with major artists ranging from country to rock and roll.

The historic G.A.R. Hall is the home of the Peninsula Foundation and Voices in the Valley, a showcase of traditional roots music. A simple menu and full bar are available in this quaint venue and town, 45-minutes south of Cleveland.

A popular Akron night spot with live entertainment four nights a week. The menu brags of gluten-free, locally sourced and freshly made American tapas and brunch menus. There is a full-service bar with craft and signature cocktails, more than 100 beers and fine wine. The live music venues include open jams, local and national talent with original, alternative, roots, reggae, blues, jazz, country and hop-hop sounds.

Akron's vintage club for live music and good food. A simple bar setting with a full range of live acts. They also offer a creative supply of repurposed bar supplies in their retail shop. It hosts everything from indie bands to electronic DJs to punk night and jam sessions 7 nights a week.

Open since 1948, it's Akron's leading event and entertainment center. It offers a menu with an artistic flair and a full range of off-site catering as well as both local and national music events. There are multiple dining options including the intimate Backstage Bar, open before events.  Tangier is a popular spot for weddings and banquets.

It began as a silent movie theater in 1927 and was voted best acoustic venue in Northeast Ohio. All-Folked Up is the connected full-service bar which services the stage. There are 150 concerts per year. Stage also hosts a variety of community events like the Kent Folk Festival, Kent Blues Festival, Kent Reggae Fest, Kent Music Festival and film festivals. Kent is located 1 hour from Cleveland.

A midsize music venue and bar in a refurbished brick warehouse presenting touring rock 'n' roll acts. It offers a multi-functional venue space with a state of the art bar and weekly happy hour specials.

Built in 1929 it's one of the country's last remaining atmospheric theaters in the country with its moving skyscapes throughout the events. Its calendar includes music, theater, comedy, and family entertainment shows.  It is now also home to Lock 3 Live!, an outdoor performance venue hosting 80 events between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Concerts and Festivals
