Breweries, Supplies, and Tours




For those who enjoy craft beer, Greater Cleveland/Akron will be an easy place to call home. We have a long brewing history. One of our first breweries was on the banks of the Cuyahoga River in 1800. With strong public demand for local craft beers, breweries can be found all over the region.

Local Breweries

For true connoisseurs, there is a Cleveland Brewery Passport. For the rest of us, here is an extensive list of local breweries to you can visit while you are in town or after you have made Greater Cleveland/Akron your home. Many of these spots offer tours as well.

Akronym Brewing Downtown location with handcrafted beers and small menu in taproom. Hoppin' Frog Brewery, Akron Artisanal brewery, tasting room, and happy hour. Lock 15 Brewing Company Sits right next to the towpath trail at the Cascade Valley trailhead, year-round and seasonal beers with full menu. Missing Falls Brewery, Akron Brewery and tasting room in Akron that ships to 22 states. R. Shea Brewing A full spectrum of beers and starters for food. Two locations in Akron. Thirsty Dog Brewing Co., Akron Craft brewery offering weekly tours and a tasting room. East Side

 

Boss Dog Brewing Company Cleveland Heights, Gastropub, 10 taps with their signature craft beers. Bottlehouse Brewing Company, Cleveland Heights Handcrafted beer, mead and cider, local food truck, Lakewood location, too. Craft Collective A side project of Bottlehouse located in Shaker Heights.  Crooked Pecker Brewing Company Nano brewery with IPAs have menus for local restaurants to deliver to brewery. Pulpo Brew Co., Willoughby Brining Latin Heritage to the region through great beer and food. Saucy Brew Works, Pinecrest in Orange Village Great beer and pizza, Ohio City location as well. Voodoo Brewing Co., Cleveland Heights National chain but independently owned brewery in Cedar-Lee District. West Side

Fat Head's Brewing, North Olmstead Founded in PA as an early pioneer of craft beer and popular restaurant, location in Middleburg Heights as well. Immigrant Son Brewing, Lakewood Old world brewing techniques. Railroad Brewing Co., Avon Two west side locations featuring craft beer and food, family friendly spot. Rocky River Brewing Co., Rocky River Family-friendly gastropub with house beers. Sibling Revelry Brewing, Westlake Seasonal and 22 beers on tap with visiting local food trucks. Southern Tier Brewing Company, Lakewood and Cleveland Satellite 30+ beers on tap. South Side

 

Blue Monkey Brewing Company Nine craft beers on tap, Michael Angelo Wines and BYOF (Bring your own food). The Brew Kettle, Strongsville Brew on-premise facility turned out recipes for groups of visitors that were so popular that they now sell their own brands in a restaurant setting, located in Amherst and Hudson, too. Cornerstone Brewing Company, Berea Little, family-friendly brew pub. HiHO Brewing Company Brewhouse and taproom with garage doors that open to a lively patio w/light and local fare. Hop Tree Brewing Nice selection of brews and themed/smaller menu.

We could attempt to list every Greater Cleveland/Akron brewery, but the list continually grows. The craft been scene is robust.

Tour the Greater Cleveland beer scene by grabbing a ride on a Cleveland Brew Bus courtesy of City Brew Tours (public or private). Or paddle down the Cuyahoga River on the BrewBoat Cleveland

If you choose to brew your own, there are some great local options to get you started.

Cleveland Brew Shop in Ohio City has ingredients and equipment to brew your own beer at home. They teach classes and host events.

Ohio Craft Brewers Association provides resources and networks for everyone from amateurs to professionals. The OCBA also organizes statewide events that showcase the rich brewing industry and stellar beers being produced in Ohio.
